What is superdisk drive?

SuperDisk is a high-capacity floppy disk storage medium that was introduced by Imation in the mid-1990s. It has a storage capacity of 120MB which is six times larger than a traditional 3.5-inch floppy disk. The SuperDisk drive is backwards-compatible with 720KB and 1.44MB floppy disks, and it uses a similar form factor to standard 3.5-inch disks. The SuperDisk drive uses a magnetic storage method for data, with a new format that can store more data than traditional floppy disks.

The SuperDisk drive was designed to overcome the limitations of traditional floppy disks, especially their relatively low storage space. However, despite its larger storage capacity, it faced stiff competition from alternative storage media such as CD-ROM and USB flash drives. It was eventually phased out and replaced by other storage mediums, but it remains a notable innovation in the history of computer storage.
